The aim of hatha yoga is to awaken dormant energy or shakti in the body. The health benefits of this ancient practice have been proven by modern science as well as ancient techniques. Hatha yoga challenges the entire body while using breathing techniques like pranayama to help prepare yogis for meditation. It implies pushing your physical and mental capabilities into dynamic movements that benefit your overall health. In the ancient Indian language of Sanskrit, the word hatha means “effort”, “persistence”, or “force”. It is the practice of physical asanas (poses) that aim to stretch, strengthen, and relax the entire body. Hatha yoga is technically synonymous with what we call yoga in the west.
